Computer Configuration and Installation
Our computer systems are configured to the specifications requested by a client’s counselor, or according to the specifications suggested in the assessment. This can include systems designed for:
- Blind users
- Individuals with learning disabilities
- Individuals in need of switch or voice activated computer control
- Low vision users
- Desktop, Notebook and Netbook systems for those needing portability
Within each of the above groups, special considerations are made for necessary accommodations that an individual client may require. Clients receive computer systems pre-loaded and tested for compatibility between adaptive and conventional software, operating system, and peripheral devices along with the most current Windows, anti-virus, and software upgrades.
In addition to manufacturer warranties, ATR also provides initial telephone support for computer systems purchased from us. ATR keeps track of all necessary serial numbers and documentation required by the manufacturers of these products. Note that warranties are subject to change per availability from manufacturers and per the request of the client’s counselor. Troubleshooting and repair become the responsibility of the software or hardware company for the period of time specified in the warranty.
Computer systems can be delivered and installed at a client’s home, school or workplace. ATR can also be contracted to perform on-site software reintegration and/or hardware repair as well as upgrade existing computer systems when appropriate. Note that circumstances may require that a client’s computer be returned to its manufacturer for repair.
